“CAONA”-- As with all our collections we dive deeper into our historical conscience. In the Taíno recorded language, the word 'caona’ or 'kawona' is believed to mean ‘gold.’
With “Caona” we learn a common language through shapes and patterns. These artistic expressions were our pre-columbine ancestors’ written language—a visual portal into their everyday lives, traditions and rituals. The mysterious symbols and detailed motifs that adorn their objects honor the object itself. Images were language and patterns became stories.
