A principal Taíno spirit, Atabey has presided over the Caribbean for countless generations. She’s appeared in many different forms and manifestations, but the foremost is her presiding role as the greatest of all mothers.
As a mother deity, she’s the origin of the Sun and the Moon, the bringer of gentle rains, arbiter of winds and the sea. She’s the spirit of fertile, bountiful nature.
